One image that summed up the horrendous Bhopal gas tragedy in 1984 was the image of a dead young baby boy buried in the rubble.

2. Dhaka Garment Factory Collapse 2013

The Dhaka garment factory collapse on April 25, 2013, saw hundreds of deaths. Out of these, a photographer captured death with a couple entwined together amidst the rubble.

3. The Afghan Girl 1985
In 1984, a random green-eyed Afghan girl sent ripples across the world as her portrait adorned the front cover of the June issue of National Geographic. The picture was taken by journalist Steve McCurry. The image was also called as “the First World’s Third World Mona Lisa”.

4. Aleppo Kid Omran Daqneesh
The war in Syria was captured well with 5-year-old Syrian kid Omran Daqneesh’s photograph that went viral. The horror of the war was well visible through the picture with Omran covered in dust, blood, waiting patiently for the ambulance.
