10 Eye-Opening Laws In India That Not Many Are Aware Of

1. On live-in relationships

Well we all are aware how our society reacts when they come to know about any ‘XYZ’ couple is in live-in relationship. Well according to our Indian laws, live-in relationship is totally legal and children who are born out of a live-in relationship have the full rights to the parent’s property!

2. On arresting women

Under the Section 51 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, a women can be arrested only by women officer that too only between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

3. On filing FIR!

Women can file a complaint through an email or registered post to the Deputy Commissioner or Commissioner of Police.

4. Arrest timings

Supreme court has passed a law in a favor of women according to which a women cannot be arrested before the sunrise and after the sunset. This law has been passed for the safety of women to avoid curb harassment in the wee hours.

5. Kissing and Hugging in public is not a criminal offence

Nowadays hugging in public is quite common but usually couples does not kiss in public as they are afraid of being judged by the public around and also because they are not aware of the fact that according to Section 294 of Indian Penal Code, obscenity in public is considered as crime, hugging and kissing in public is not crime.
